FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Why does she make such large portions?
When she was in Italy, she would cook and bake in such large quantities so she wouldn’t have to take time every day to make food, and instead be able to work on the farm. Many of her recipes can be cut in half or quartered if you choose to try them out!
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new…?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!
All that after early morning mass, I’m sure. 😊
Thanks, Ma!
Aren't there written ingredients. And instructions?
Was that sugar or 3teaspoons of salt that was put in? No sugar, red wine?
Can Italian grandma adopt me? I would learn to cook from her.
I’m not Italian but can she be my grandma lol
Love watching you! I miss my Italian grandma 😢 Thank you for your videos!
Oh my I love watching her cook!
some of us understand you very well Grandma Gina you go girl👏🏆🎂🍰🍝🍕
Oh Nonna! I think I have to adopt you!!
I'm not Italian, but I grew up in suburban NY, most of my aunts and uncles married Italians and at least half my friends and neighbors were too. If I was at a friend's or relative's house, any day of the week, we would end up at the kitchen table. Nonna, cause no matter whose grandmother it was, you better call her that, would have a pot of gravy and meatballs on the stove, giving us fresh bread and a bowl of gravy to tide is over while she heated up some of whatever she made the night before, lasagne, eggplant, sausage and peppers, baked ziti, manicotti. More often than not, it was a little of everything. Afterwards, she always made us "just a little" espresso, to dip our amaretti cookies in. And those cookies never came out of the square red tin that was on the table. Every Nonna had one, it just never had cookies in it. There was always Italian music on too and Nonna wanted to hear all about how we were doing in school, making sure we were doing well, even if you weren't one of her grandkids. If you were sitting at her kitchen table, you felt like family. I love these videos, they're bringing back so many awesome memories! Thank you!
Lovely 😊
You are the sweetest lady. I would love to sit down at your table with your family and to share your meal. God Bless You. You make me hungry and we just ate supper.
Thank you for your cooking and for sharing everything you do for La Familia. You are amazing and everyone understand you Mama. :))
You know Gina, my grandfather came from the ‘old country’…….so I’m used to understanding! As a matter of fact I love it! Makes me feel like home.
