This looks just as tasty way of making this classic dish. I sautΓ©e onions in olive oil, then I add the peas, salt, pepper and parsley and I add a little pasta water to the peas. Then I drain the pasta and mix the pasta in with the peas. Same flavor in the end, just a different way of preparing it. Your nonna is sooo adorable!

My mother used to sautee the onions and peas in a pot, and add the parsley, water and cooked pasta in pot to finish. Same but different!

My mom would do something similar. She would boil cauliflower, then boil pasta in the cauliflower water. When the pasta cooked with the cauliflower, never drain the cauliflower water. The pasta, cauliflower & the broth put in a bowl with Italian cheese on top. It's a good comfort food.

I am not italian I am cuban and I love to learn from my abuela too. Especially the dishes that bring back childhood memories. I got this recipe from a neighbor many years ago. My 3 kids were raised with a bowl of this wonderful stuff in the fridge all the time and they would have it for an after school snack. Everyone loves it!

Io invece faccio friggere la cipolla con olio e metto dentro i piselli..sale e pepe e lascio cucinare piano . Poi metto tutto nella pasta..ma no con tutto quel brodo ecco..anzi mia mamma ci metteva anche le patate assieme ai piselli. Saluti ππ
