Mango Panna Cotta Simple and Easy (VIDEO)

Panna cotta originated in Northern Italy. Many claims have been made that the dish was invented by a Hungarian woman in the early 1900’s. It has, however, made its way into kitchens and restaurants around the globe. I often make it up for dinner parties, and my guests simply love it.

You can alter this dessert in a few ways. Firstly, I make mango panna cotta because I love mangoes, but you can make a blueberry, kiwi, strawberry puree, etc. I can see them all going so nicely with the panna cotta.

If you are making the mango puree, you don’t really need to add sugar depending on the type of mango you get and where you’re from. I lived in the Philippines for a couple of years and love the mangoes there as they were always ripe, sweet, and filled with flavor. In North America, however, I find the mangoes a touch on the sour side.

You don’t have to put the puree in the fried to set, as you can pour it over the panna cotta and serve it. If you’re doing that, you can leave the gelatin mixture out. I like mine to set nicely simply because the texture is superb. I should mention that you can use flavored gelatin too if you like. You can be the judge, however.
