Sunday Gravy, Italian Recipe – Gianni’s North Beach (VIDEO)
Italian Sunday gravy is the traditional, long-cooked pasta sauce from a small village in Campania. It has long braised meats galore like pork braciola, beef braciola, meatballs and sausage. It’s a classic of the slow food movement since you really want to take your time making this one. But the good news is that while it’s a lot of time, it’s not a lot of work. You basically make the sauce, brown the meat and then let everything simmer together for several hours. It’s the perfect dish to make on a lazy Sunday afternoon sipping wine with friends.
You have to make this one next Sunday!

My (Well it's Gianni's really, but he isn't here to take credit) Sunday Gravy is the best.
If ever there was a case for creating "smell-o-vision" this video is it.
Bloomfield, Nutley, Belleville , Newark perhaps Clifton or passaic. The accent of home. The recipes of home. Thank you
I grew up in NY and live in North Beach now. And I hear you pronounce Italian words or Italian American words like yours
from there, then I heard you say Jersey and it made sense. "Mannigaut", for instance I never hear outside of the NY area. I say that here and people think I'm crazy.
But you talk like my friends dads who also grew up in NB. Funny how now I have the ear for both of those accents now.
Nice recipe! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Hi, Gianni. This is awesome, my mouth is watering. I've never eaten this gravy here in Italy, but I'm from the Northern part of the country. I'm not sure it's still nowadays cooked in the South too. Your emotions run tears to my eyes. You're great, I subscribed to your channel. Ciao dall'Italia!
Excellent Gianni. I wont even take exception to your calling it gravy lol . And I agree 100% about the crap in the can they call cheese.
You mean basilico? lol
I love the butcher shop you went to. I've never had braciola, so next time I make my sauce i'll try it.
My bragioles came out dry. Did I fry them too long or was it the poor quality of the meat?
Beautiful recipe presented with charm.
Keep cooking like that certain they're going to give you all of San Francisco LOL great video thank you for sharing sir
great food and great shirt
I just found your channel. Absolutely loved this video. That Sunday gravy looked really labor intensive but doable for the average guy. I will definitely be trying this recipe. Thanks.
Beautiful cooking, love it, gave me some great instructions, to some food for the fall and winter, thank you sooo much, God bless you…
Haha…nice…I had the feeling you were from Jersey (I grew up in Union). Looks great!
i like this recipe…its not just another carbon copy gravy. cant wait to make it
That was a fine Feast if I ever saw one.
How many people would this recipe as is serve? Assuming everyone is in their cups and wanting a big meal. I am having about 8 people over on Sunday.
You sir owe me a keyboard. I drooled all over this one and it's ruined! LOL. jk.
Awesome recipe. Where in NJ? I grew up 2 blocks from the Italian section of Atlantic City. You could smell Sunday gravy cooking all day until it drove you nuts.
