Nonna’s Pizza Rustica – Pizzagaina – Rossella’s Cooking with Nonna (VIDEO)
Join me and Nonna Romana to learn how to make a traditional Pizza Rustica, an Italian recipe to make for Easter.
Pizza Rustica often is also called Pizzagaina and can be made is different heights and shapes and with different kinds of cheeses and meats.

La forma dialettale del nome di questo piatto Γ¨ "pizzachiena" o "pizzachena", che in italiano sarebbe "pizza ripiena". Per favore, smettetela con 'pizzagheina' o addirittura 'pizzagain'. Γ un errore. ππ
Feel so bad when Nonna goes to help and doesnβt get admired π such a good video besides that!
It makes me sad to think these traditions are dying…I haven't had a pie like this on Easter for many years. My grandmother used to make the best one, and she used to let me help decorate the top of the pie crust. So many good memories.

My mom and I use to make 9 pies that was a lot of work by hand then my husband bought me the kitchen aid thank God what a pleasure .we use to ship

I can see how nona is really excite about her dish.
Me and my sisters would fight over grandma's pizza rustica..
So every Easter grandma would make each of us our own pie so we wouldn't fight..
Video grandioso per tutto quello che significa. W l Italia w gli states
I have to say I just found your YouTube channel and I love it. I love your Nonna! She reminds me so much of my Nonna. How much I miss her. It's been over 33 years since she passed but this channel brought back such beautiful memories of my Nonna trying to teach me some things. Wish I payed more attention and gotten her recipes. But this will help so much. God bless you and your beautiful Nonna!
This brings back so many memories of growing up surrounded by my Italian family. So many are gone now and my children are grown, but I am making this recipe this Easter!! Yum!! Thank you for this delicious recipe! I agree that your Nonna should have more speaking time. She seems so sweet, but we don't get to hear her very much. You do a very nice job explaining everything.
Pizza chiena! Or pizza piena…
Meaning stuffed or filled.
Pizza rustica would be more correct.
Im not sure about this pizza gaina or whatever…thats non existent in any Italian dialect or region.
Im guessing its another American thing that has been mangled or bastardized.
The second generation really screwed it up for further generations of Italian Anericans, to be taken seriously when trying to speak Italian.
Kinda like when you hear pasta fazool, moozzarell, mortadell…
Its not taken seriously by most Italians, and have always been told its a New Jersey, or New York thing.
Rossella i am not directing this at you personally! I think you pronounciate the Italian words gracefully. You are not lumped in with the ones i am speaking about!
Thank you for the wonderful vids
This is delicious, thank you for sharing the recipe. Precious β€
Agree with Doug Tuf. If t seems like Nonni is being used as a prop
